Aijo Beness ((ロシア語:Айо Бенес), born 8 June 1979 in Rēzekne, Latvian SSR) is a UK-based Latvian citizen and an activist of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist–Leninist), and the Korean Friendship Association-UK. Beness has participated in many actions in solidarity with Palestine. He was active in the Crimean crisis and the pro-Russian unrest in Ukraine and is currently active in the War in the Donets basin. Beness has been arrested multiple times and tried for his political activities. ==Biography== Aijo Beness was born in Rēzekne. His father is Ugandan and his mother is Russian. He played an active role in political rallies in the UK, where he was involved with the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist–Leninist) and attended pro-Palestinian marches. He participated in the international movement in support of Palestine, in which he assisted Palestinians in resisting Israeli authorities. He was detained by the Ukrainian Border Guard, and deported to Latvia where he was detained by the Security Police and the State Police at Riga Airport. Beness made claims he had been tortured and beaten by the Ukrainian National Guard.
